The Production and Operations Manager reports to the Deputy Director and works closely with the artistic faculty and other management staff for the smooth running of Conservatory and Community Program concerts, rehearsals, and other events. The Production and Operations Manager is also responsible for office technology, operations, facility management, and instrument library inventory controls.
Community Opus Program Manager
The Community Opus Program Manager is responsible for overseeing the Community Opus Project in Chula Vista, which currently serves approximately 350 students and families. Musicians are enrolled in introductory (Esperanza), beginner (Alegria), advanced beginner (Festejo) and intermediate (OHO) string and wind ensembles. He/she is responsible for promoting high standards for the programs and instruction. The Community Opus Program Manager collaborates and communicates with the Community Program team, school principals and teachers from the Chula Vista Elementary School District (CVESD), families, and the Conservatory Program team to fulfill these responsibilities:
Teaching Artist (Winds or Strings)
Because we are committed to making music education accessible and affordable for all, SDYS runs intentional, after-school, instrumental music programs that aim to rally families and school leaders to provide in-school music education for all students. The Teaching Artists on the Community Program team serve in a number of roles that lead this mission. Some of the roles include: teaching group sectionals; conducting full string and wind ensembles; coaching chamber ensembles; leading small group lessons; and constantly forming and strengthening relationships with their colleagues, student musicians, and musicians’ families. We are looking for motivated Teaching Artists who are excellent performers on their instrument, effective student motivators, collaborative with their colleagues, intuitive to the surroundings around them, and culturally sensitive to diverse backgrounds. We are not looking for a Teaching Artist to just teach music. Our team works to build musical skill, teach foundational knowledge, provide opportunities for creativity, serve as a mentor and role model to both their musicians and their musicians’ families, and transform lives through building community that leads to making systemic change through schools.
